Today's Updates:

Closure Extension
Today at this press conference, Governor Pritzker announced that he will be extending the disaster/stay at home/school closure status through APRIL 31. This means the EARLIEST schools would reopen is May 1.

We expected this, and that's why we are asking you to invest so much time into the eLearning side of our Remote Learning plan!
[
WE CAN DO THIS!!! It's not what we'd pick, but we'll make the best of it!

SPIRIT WEEK!!!
Just a reminder of each day this week! SOOO FUN!!!!

D114 Parade!
Super excited about tomorrow's parade!!!! I've gotten almost 100 emails from parents/kids saying how excited they are. This is going to be a great thing in a very tough time, so THANK YOU to those who are going to be a part of this. If you can't, it's totally fine--we know you'll be sending virtual hugs to all!

A suggestion has been made that you put, in your car window/on your car, a sign that says who you are so the kids know who's driving by. Here's an example:

Wednesday, April 1
Meet at Stanton at 2:15
Parade starts at 2:30
Parade ends at Lotus
*Route is coming---thank you, Becky Laverdure, for organizing this! 😄

You can decorate your car and make a poster yourselves before hand or we will supply pre-made posters.

Please remember that we need be practicing social distancing during this parade.

Please contact Megan Dulen or Michelle Serini with any questions.

Reminders:
Grab and Go

Starting Monday 3/30, we'll distribute on Monday and Thursday mornings ONLY from 7:30-10:00 at Stanton. You can grab "3 for Me" and everything else you need but we also limit how many staff members need to come in and how often we are asking families to come to school. Social distancing is KEY to us getting back to normal!

Cyber Read Alouds
If you'd like to do a virtual read aloud that I can send out via the Daily Family Update, please sign up on this log. Directions are included. Thanks, Barraza, for setting this up. Please send in your recording the day BEFORE your sign up date so I have it in time to upload and post for the Daily Update. THANK YOU!!!!!

Today's Kudos...
Thanks to all the teams who met virtually today to get your bearings, ask questions, brainstorm ideas, share frustrations, and EVERYTHING in the best interest interest of our students. Please remember--the goal isn't PERFECT...it's effort and connections. We'll do the very best we can and it will be GREAT! Our families appreciate everything that we are doing...WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!

How has a colleague supported you in the last few days?

Today's Updates:

Remote Learning Updates
I'm hoping that, by now, you've had the time to watch the videos to clarify Remote Learning 2.0. I certainly learned to do something new...and that I hate the sound of my own voice! In case you want to see them again, the videos are linked here.

Paraprofessionals--more information coming soon to you, too, about expectations and options during the closure. I promise!

And...no....I don't have any information on the closure past April 7 yet. We also don't know yet if 3/31-4/7 will be considered Act of God days. I'll let you know as soon as I do! :)

Remember...

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take time for YOU this week!

Today's Updates:

Remote Learning Updates

Since the closure is now continuing past 3/30, we are going to give more structure to everyone for Remote Learning. We think this is best for everyone...especially the students! 💓

You should be receiving email invites for Team Meetings with your principals and SpEd Coordinators that start next week. These will be Google Hangouts, so please make sure to mark your calendars. If you need help with Hangouts, please reach out to David or Mike.

We'll use next week to continue supporting students with their Remote Learning choice menus (mailed to each home on Friday, 3/20). No change in that plan! I'll inform parents on Monday that they can "return" student work via email with scanned documents, as pictures emailed to you, etc. Whatever works...works! 😄

On Monday, you'll receive a Loom presentation from me that will walk you through the expectations for Remote Learning 2.0. Next week will be about getting ready and collaborating to launch the updated plan for April 6 AND staying connected and accessible to families.

From April 6 forward, Remote Learning will look like the choice menus AND the new plans that will be shared on Monday. Please do not stress--we're all in this together and we will figure it out!

Instructional paraprofessionals--more information coming soon to you, too, about expectations and options during the closure.

And...no....I don't have any information on the closure past April 7 yet. We also don't know yet if 3/31-4/7 will be considered Act of God days. I'll let you know as soon as I do! :)

SPIRIT WEEK!!!
Here's a sneak peek at next week's spirit week ideas--I'll share with families tomorrow in the Daily Family Update (and will repeat each day). THANKS to Amanda Lorenz for leading this effort!

Today's Updates:

IAR Waiver
From State Superintendent of Schools Carmen Ayala:
The U.S. Department of Education (ED) let us know that our request to waive assessments, summative designations, and reporting on accountability metrics for the 2019-20 school year appears to meet all statutory requirements. ED directed Illinois to go ahead and begin implementing the waivers while it processes the formal approval, which we should receive in the coming weeks.
