Today's Updates:

Remote Learning
Another great day of Remote Learning 2.0 thankts to all of YOU!

Clarifying What's Expected
I've gotten a couple questions today about what is expected of students during Remote Learning. Here's what I've told families---and what I hope we'll all hold tight to:

GOAL: Kids do work in eLearning and the choice menus, This was the slide in the family presentation:

If that's too much, families prioritize eLearning since it's coming directly from their teachers. This was the slide:

If families can't/don't feel comfortable with virtual platforms, they should focus on the choice menus. This was that slide:

What is NOT ok is that a student is doing nothing...especially if we haven't connected with them at all. That's who we need to know about ASAP so we can follow up.

Calling Families with Privacy
Another company wants to make it easier for you to communicate with families without having to reveal your personal phone number. Rival5 Caller-ID has a masking function that hides your cell or home phone number and instead broadcasts your district or school's number to the destination number. It's a standard feature of Rival5 Mobile, Mobile Plus, Classroom, and Full Feature extensions. The company is making this service is free to use for Illinois and Indiana school districts until June 1, 2020. You can see a YouTube video about the service, or go to rival5.com/k12masking to sign up. This info has been added to the Remote Learning 2.0 FAQ document.

USER GUIDES
Please, please, please don't send out user guides/how to documents to families until they have been viewed and approved by your principal or me. With all the best intentions, families have gotten contradictory and confusing information. Please direct them to the Remote Learning Center to use the "how to" documents created for our system and set up.
THANKS!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
If you are willing and able, we need some help with preparing and serving at Grab and Go and with assembling Remote Choice menus for mailing.

SPIRIT WEEK!!!
Here's a sneak peek at this week's events!!!

Thank you, Amanda Lorenz! 💗

Reminders:
Grab and Go
We now distribute on Monday and Thursday mornings ONLY from 7:30-10:00 at Stanton. You can grab "3 for Me" and everything else you need but we also limit how many staff members need to come in and how often we are asking families to come to school. Social distancing is KEY to us getting back to normal!

Cyber Read Alouds
If you'd like to do a virtual read aloud that I can send out via the Daily Family Update, please sign up on this log. Directions are included. Thanks, Barraza, for setting this up. Please send in your recording the day BEFORE your sign up date so I have it in time to upload and post for the Daily Update. THANK YOU!!!!!

Building Access
When you come into the buildings to get stuff, please be sure to turn off your lights and shut your door when leaving. Helps us save on energy. THANK YOU!

All superintendents have been asked by the Lake County Health Department to make sure the following are in place for all staff who come onsite:

  • No one can come to work who is sick and/or has a temperature at or above 100.4.
  • Staff must take their temperatures at home.
  • If you don't have a thermometer at home, let the administrator on site know and we'll take your temperature for you.
  • All staff should wear gloves when handling materials at Grab and Go that will be given to families.

Today's Kudos...
Thanks to Michele Burgess for giving us the clarification

What did you push through today? How did you get through something that was challenging?
